First off, we throw great parties. We believe that the best way to build relationships is through fun! Whether that's at our annual Holiday Party, a Royal’s watch party, or maybe our networking event for anyone and everyone involved in real estate, including agents from other brokerages. We know that a well-worded email can work but it has nothing on shaking a hand, having a beverage, and getting to know someone. Every person has a story, and we want to hear it.

Our hope is that when the time comes and you need a real estate agent, you'll remember that awesome party where the owner screamed in joy at the TV when the Royals came back from a three-run deficit to win and did a dance. Ya know, maybe…

We started Kansas City Realty in 2016 after Dan laid his license with some big-name brokerages, and that’s when we saw a gap. There was something missing in the industry. Why was Dan giving away such a huge part of a commission for name recognition? Names are names but the agent is the selling point, they are the owners of their business. They are who the client bonds with when going through this home buying and selling process. Overall, Dan learned so much with the bigger brokerages but also felt like something was missing.

He wanted the best of both worlds. He wanted the support and resources of a bigger brokerage while also not having to give away such a large portion of commission. He also found that typically he was told to stay in his lane regarding sales. Once you meet Dan, you will understand that the worst possible thing is to put him in a box. He wanted to start a brokerage where agents can learn from each other and work in residential and commercial sales if that is what they want.

That was the beginning of Kansas City Realty. A home for agents, not a cubicle. A brokerage that celebrates thinking outside the box, which in turn benefits our agents as well as us just by seeing their growth.

We are founded on giving back to our community. Before starting Kansas City Realty, Melissa worked in social services for 10 years. When Dan and Melissa decided to go all in and start Kansas City Realty, we did it with the notion that giving back to your community is imperative. It isn't an option for us. We want to lift others up, be that a local charity or small business like us. We are always looking for the next way to help someone out. It's in our blood and it's not just for the props. We truly love Kansas City and everyone in it.
