Why pick us? Well first you are probably wondering what I am talking about. Our brokerage and our broker Dan Martin were nominated for The Pitch Best of KC for 2020 in three categories. Sure, we can send out emails to everyone asking for their votes, promise delicious BBQ (jackfruit option for our vegetarian supporters) and then hope for the best. When we were thinking about it about it though, we want you to know why we truly think we are the best. We want to earn your vote not because you know one of us personally (that’s awesome though) but because you see that we are pushing to be the best in Kansas City Real Estate. So here goes nothing and in no particular order.

We are home grown. We are not a franchise. My husband Dan (possible Best Real Estate Agent) and myself started Kansas City Realty Services (KCRS) back in 2017. We truly had zero idea if we were going to open ourselves up to having agents. We started it so Dan was able to hold his license somewhere he could make the rules and do real estate the way he wanted to. Then we were approached by a friend and agent wanting to join as she wanted to do the same thing. We realized there was a gap and we created a space for those who love their jobs, enjoy sarcasm, like to have parties, and didn’t want to have the weight of the world on their shoulders with unnecessary transaction fees and charges. KCRS was born from the purest intention to give agents a home, not a cubicle.

We are incredibly real. If you have worked with us, you know that when you do, it’s not like we are going to put on a show. Although we do love a great party but that’s for a later point. We truly feel as if being our most authentic selves is the way to go. Yes, could you hire that agent with a sharp blazer that I have been eying for days on Instagram? Sure. If you are wanting all the work and no play, then perhaps we aren’t the best at that. We are the ones who become your friends. We are the ones who decide we are going to only communicate in GIFS. Yes, this happened with one fantastic couple and it was priceless. That is not saying we don’t work our tails off. Please don’t confuse the two. KCRS believes that to be the best, you must treat yourself the best. That is personally and professionally. That means you must laugh, work, fall down, get up, and be completely and totally real. We aren’t selling a fake dream of 1,000 leads a day or selling your house in two hours. We are selling you reality, on a platter, surrounded by hard work and a promise we won’t let you down.

We are founded on giving back. I have mentioned it before and I will do it again, before starting this brokerage with my husband Dan, I was in social services for ten years. Leaving that world was extremely tough for me. When we decided to go all in, we did it with the notion that you must give back to your community. It isn’t an option. We wanted to lift others up, be that a local charity or small business like ourselves. We are ALWAYS looking for the next way to help someone out. It’s in our blood and it’s not just for the props. We truly love Kansas City and everyone in it.

4) Parties. Well, we throw great parties. I guess I should rephrase that, we did throw great parties. We are still trying to figure out how to accomplish this in a pandemic. I will say though, if you came to one, you know it’s a good time. We believe that in order to build relationships, it’s through fun. Be that with our A Royal Taco Tuesday event with Silva’s taco truck outside or maybe our networking event for anyone and everyone involved in real estate, including agents from other brokerages. We know that a well worded email sometimes works but it has nothing on shaking a hand and having a beer and getting to know someone. Every person has a story and we want to hear it. Then when the time comes and you need a brokerage, maybe you will remember that awesome party where the owner yelled at the tv when the Royals came back from a three-run deficit to win and did a dance. Ya know, maybe.

Now for my last point and maybe a tad personal, why you should vote for Dan Martin for Best Real Estate Agent. Bear with me as it’s our 11 year wedding anniversary Saturday so you may gag from adorableness. No one will ever make me believe that he isn’t the best. He truly is and gives everything to his clients and agents. When we say our clients become our friends, we mean it. Dan gets texts from people years later asking for recommendations on contractors and so forth. He loves his job, but he loves people more. Our brokerage vision states, “we are about relationships, not transactions.” That is Dan. Yes, he has years of work as a general contractor that allows him to walk into any house and give an estimate on work needed. Yes, he has a list of contractors that he holds close that will do anything for him and his clients at the drop of a hat. Yes, he is the one who will answer a new agents phone call at 11pm as they are worrying about a negotiation. That all makes him a great agent. What makes him the Best is that he works so hard for his clients, agents, and for his family. He is, without a doubt in my mind, the best agent in KC because no one can compare with his heart. He is the one who pushes me every day to be better and I like to think he does that for everyone he works with in KC. Not to mention, he can smoke a mean brisket that I say manifests into the best burnt ends Kansas City will ever see. And for that and many more reasons, I love him so much.

So, after reading that, if you still are trying to grasp at reasons to vote for us for Best Boutique Brokerage, Best Real Estate Brokerage, and Dan Martin for Best Real Estate Agent…well, I don’t know what to tell you besides we will keep trying. We will work to earn your vote hopefully next year. Your voice and commitment to us does not go unnoticed and it is appreciated. For those of you who do vote for us, thank you. We know we may not win but, in the end, the best doesn’t always. You can bet though we will have a party celebrating coming in a close 2nd (because that’s where we would be obviously) when all is safe.
