September 8, 2022

Sarah Legg was the first full time agent to join us at Kansas City Realty. She is now one of our great friends and continues to positively impact the Kansas City Community along the way. She is married to her husband Jon, has two kiddos Windsor and Bowen and some furbabies to boot. So, check her out. First agent at Kansas City Realty needs to be the first This Week’s Special!

M: Are you excited?

S: I’m very excited, but a little disappointed Bubbles the Cat and Paddy the Dog didn’t get a named shoutout.

M: What’s your professional background?

S: I have two degrees in journalism: a BS from University of Nebraska at Omaha (with a minor in studio/digital art), and MSJ from KU. I started in commercial construction project management for a large GC in Omaha as an assistant, and moved to KC in 2007 and spent the next 5 years in advertising project management. I then started a magazine and publishing company and did that until I had my daughter. I was the marketing director for a group of dermatology and plastic surgery clinics, then decided I wanted to get back into the development/real estate world. I spent a year at Copaken Brooks in marketing, then joined KC Realty in 2017. It’s hard to go back and work for someone else once you’ve run your own company for a while.

M: Do you consider yourself to have a specialty in this market?

S: I have lived in Midtown for 15 years, and am on the historic preservation commission for the city of Kansas City, so I definitely specialize in older homes, and urban living.

M: Other than real estate, what are your passions around Kansas City?

S: Historic preservation, architecture and interior design. My background in construction and studio art always comes out when I’m renovating my home, or another house. I love being hands-on and I always have multiple projects going on around my home.

M: Dream house in Kansas City?

S: One of the big, old Victorians overlooking Downtown on the Westside. Or maybe a sweet condo in a historic building in Columbus Park.

M: What do you see as the biggest change we need to see in this market?

S: We need to start pumping local money into the development community, and using the resources we already have, versus tearing down and starting over. I want to see more equity in development in Kansas City with opportunities for locals from all socioeconomic backgrounds. Generational wealth is so important, so I want to help be a catalyst for those opportunities.

M: Final Meal, what we having/where we going?

S: The Foundry-RIP. But if that can’t happen, Westside Local.
